My name is Cheryl Opie. I'm a warm, caring and experienced marriage celebrant who loves nothing more than supporting people with the joyous occasions in their lives.
Weddings for everyone
I specialise in weddings: legal-only ceremonies, elopements, and intimate celebrations for couples who want something relaxed, meaningful, and beautifully uncomplicated.
Legals only ceremony
The shortest ceremony available, taking around 10–15 minutes. It includes the required legal wording (approximately 124 words), the signing of certificates, and a few words for the exchange of rings. Simple, efficient, and still lovely.
The Elopement package
A little more than just the legals. We add your personal vows, an "I Do" exchange, and words for the ring ceremony. I have beautiful options for all of these, or we can use your own. Are you being given away? We can include that too.
Personalised package
This is your story, told your way. I'll send you a list of questions so I can weave your history and personalities into the ceremony. Every element from the packages above is included, and the theme is entirely up to you — as long as the legal words are in there, the rest is yours.
If you'd like me to arrange your official marriage certificate and have it delivered to your nominated address, add $70 to any package. Alternatively, you can order it yourself through Births, Deaths and Marriages for $67.10.
A Little About Me
That's where I come in.
I spent 20 years teaching meditation, and people often tell me I bring a sense of calm to the room. That may also come from years of marriage, motherhood, grand-motherhood — or simply surviving family Christmas lunches with grace and humour.
Whatever the reason, I'll do everything I can to make your ceremony easy, personal, and genuinely enjoyable. Because there's nothing quite as lovely as two people deciding to choose each other — and I'd be honoured to help you do exactly that.

Over the years, I've learned a few things.
